This Christmas season was spectacular! Students worked very hard and performed at Windward Mall on December 17th! The harmonies were beautiful and everyone from soloists to groups did a great job. On the 18th, we held our annual Christmas Karaoke Social at HMC Karaoke in Pearl City. Students were divided into their age groups and each group had their own karaoke room complete with disco lights, goodie bags and a pizza lunch. It was great to see everyone singing together and having fun.
Congratulations to all of the performers on doing a great performance at the Kapolei Carnival! Special thanks to EK Fernandez and their representative Donna Smith for inviting us to perform at the carnival and for giving our performers wristbands to ride the carnival rides after the performance. It was a great day at the carnival!

This year at the taping of Hawaii Stars, I had the opportunity of a lifetime. There I was, seated in the audience, so excited for my students on stage. As I watched each of them perform, I smiled from ear to ear. As each show came to an end, like everyone else, I couldn’t wait until the end to hear the judge’s results. One of the highlights of the night was having my voice teacher Neva Rego seated on my right and my student Christina Baluyut who became a voice teacher seated to the left of me. On the stage was Christina’s student. I felt so blessed at that moment to be with Aunty Neva and Christina while watching Christina’s student perform. At the end, Christina’s student won. What a feeling we all felt to see her win. I feel so thankful that God allowed me to study all those years with Aunty Neva. She not only taught me great skill and technique, but she has always loved and encouraged me, which has shown me how to be an educator. I saw the same skill and heart in Christina and that is why I chose to train her to teach. Thank you Aunty Neva & congratulations Christina. It is an honor to be in a family of inspiring teachers.
Joshua S. made it through the auditions and to the finals of the Hawaii Stars television show appearing on the 2011 teen episode on KHON on October 23rd,. He got the crowd and judges going with his song “Mamma Knows Best” from Jessie J. I was at the taping of the show and was so proud of him! Please congratulate him on a job well done when you see him!
Congratulations to Megan B.! Megan worked very hard and it paid off! She first made her way through the Hawaii Stars auditions. Then the finals. On Sunday October 16th Megan was on the Hawaii Stars Television Show on KHON competing against other great vocalists and won the competition singing the Broadway hit “Don’t Rain On My Parade”. Please congratulate Megan when you see her!

Everyone did a great job at the EK Fernandez carnival this past weekend! I am so proud of all of the performers. From the ukulele players to the solo vocalists to the group vocalists, everyone was amazing! Special thanks to E.K. Fernandez and their representative Donna Smith for giving our students the opportunity to perform and for providing each of the performers with wristbands to ride the carnival rides after the performance. The students had so much fun on the rides, eating food and enjoying their day at the carnival!
